Garbage Pick-Up
Garbage pick-up is on Monday and Thursday.
Garbage carts can be placed at the street the night before the collection day and must be removed from the street the day of collection.
AmWaste only picks up what fits inside the garbage cart. The City of Hoover must be called for any item too large to fit into the cart. These bulky items can be placed on the curb outside your townhome. Please do not place these items in front of anyone else's home.
It is your responsibility to schedule the pick up of these items.

Recyclables
Homeowners do not have to separate recycling items into different garbage carts. All items in the garbage carts placed at the street on Thursday will be sorted and recycled by AmWaste.
Materials Accepted
- rolled carpet
- glass doors (glass must be broken and placed in a cardboard box)
- alkaline
- manganese and carbon-zinc batteries
- fluorescent bulbs
- household amounts of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers
- moving boxes (broken down)
- packing materials (bagged
- appliances (refrigerated appliances require a Freon removal tag issued by a certified technician) and mattresses.
Materials Not Accepted
- large amounts of construction debris
- blocks
- bricks
- concrete
- piles of dirt
- tile
- tires
- more than household amounts of hazardous waste
- car batteries
- large car parts (engines, rotors, etc.)
- landscape or railroad cross ties
- medical waste
- needles
- animal carcasses
